Arab League delivers Syrian threat the Lebanon

New York (KurdishMedia.com): According to the Reform Party of Syria (RPS), a Syrian opposition group, the Secretary General of the Arab League Amro Moussa delivered a message to the Lebanese government from the Syrian regime which stated that Syria might be willing to stop the killings in Lebanon if the Lebanese government ignores Resolution 1559 and closes the probe into his death.

Syrian military and intelligence forces were forced to leave Lebanon earlier this year as a result of international outcry following the assassination of Lebanese politician Rafiq Hariri, widely blamed on Syria. Since Syria’s withdrawal from Lebanon, other anti-Syrian politicians in Lebanon have been assassinated, the most recent of whom was parliamentarian and journalist Jibran Tuweni.

The implicit threat from the Syrian regime has provoked further anti-Syrian outrage in Lebanon. Lebanese politician Boutros Harb has made several appearances on LBC and al-Mustaqbal television stations to denounce the Syrian regime and blame the Syrian regime for the murder of Hariri and others in Lebanon. Meanwhile, Secretary General Moussa issued a press release stating that his recent visits to Syria and Lebanon aimed at defusing tension between the two Arab states, rather than promoting a deal to reach appeasement in return for closing the probe into Hariri’s death.
