One killed in Russian province of Dagestan
One person was killed in a blast in Russia’s southern province of Dagestan on Thursday.
The explosion occurred in the internal republic’s capital city Makhachkala, near a number of large markets and 150 meters from the central mosque at about 11:30 local time, the Interfax news agency reported.
Preliminary reports said at least one person had been killed.
An investigation team is working at the scene. The cause of the explosion is still unclear.
The Gazeta.Ru news website cited local emergency officials as saying the victim had been carrying an explosive device. Investigators have not ruled out that the man may have killed himself by accident.
