Kenya: Tuju roots for ties with Iran
Kenya Times: THE government will establish close trade links with countries in the Middle East, Foreign Affairs Minister Raphael Tuju has said.
The minister noted that Kenya and the Middle East poses similar cultures, which if well harnessed, would foster trade relations between the two regions.
Speaking during a meeting with the Iran Ambassador to Kenya, Mohammed Raeisi, in his office, Tuju hailed the existing sound relations between Kenya and Iran, saying it had led to increased trade between the two countries.
The minister, however, said increased bilateral trade relations between the two countries will help in economic recovery of their peoples.
He observed that Iran’s vast network in the Middle East would help Kenya have a ready market for its meat, tea and other agricultural products in the region.
On his part, Mr Raeisi said his country was interested in conducting business with other developing countries particularly those in Africa.
He said Iran was ready to finance and offer credit facilities to Kenya, for the implementation of various development projects.
He said Kenya and Iran have already signed several agreements on bilateral co-operation including co-operatives, tourism, environment, culture, education, scientific, narcotics and drug trafficking.
