Moscow power plants starting to use reserve fuel
MOSCOW (Itar-Tass) -- Gazprom has halved gas supplies to a number of Moscow power plants, spokesman for the Unified Energy Systems of Russia (UES) Marina Nagoga told Itar-Tass on Tuesday
“The power plants are starting to use reserve fuel – fuel oil. Moscow has a fuel oil reserve for approximately two weeks. The power plants are holding negotiations with the suppliers of fuel oil and coal,” she said.
“The actions of Gazprom are totally legal, and the energy holding does not have any claims to it,” she said.
Nagoga said Gazprom informed them on Tuesday about reducing gas deliveries to power plants by 12 million cubic meters a day from the regular 85 million cubic meters. “As soon as temperatures in Moscow normalize, gas supplies to the Moscow energy system will be fully restored,” she said.
