Rebels claim to have captured 9 soldiers in Iran
ISN SECURITY WATCH (Sunday, 1 January: 13.30 CET) – A Sunni rebel group called Jundollah claimed on Sunday that it had captured nine Iranian soldiers, Al Arabiya television reported.
An unidentified man called the television channel, saying the group was demanding the release of 16 of its members from prison in return for the soldiers’ freedom.
The soldiers were allegedly captured near Iran’s border with Pakistan.
The Iranian military has not confirmed the claim.
In July, the group said it beheaded an Iranian security agent it had abducted the previous month.
