Hizb terrorist shot dead by security forces in India
Press Trust of India: Security forces on Friday shot dead a self-styled section commander of Hizbul Mujahideen in an encounter in a village in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Troops launched an operation in Kichar area, about 10 km from Doda, on specific information of terrorist activity there and the Hizb 'section commander' identified as Mohammad Yaqoob was killed in the encounter that followed, a defence spokesman said in Jammu.
An AK-series assault rifle and some ammunition were found on him, he said adding that the operation continuing in the area.
Officials said the Army, police and Border Security Force in a joint operation recovered an AK magazine, 70 AK rounds, 12 empty fire cases, a Chinese grenade and five kg of explosives from Devli forest area of Rajouri district on Thursday morning.
The operation was launched to track down terrorists who had opened fire on a vehicle injuring four persons in neighbouring Ransoo area of Udhampur district on the evening of April 12, they said.
