May 1 (Reuters) - Following are security and political developments in Iraq on Monday as of 1200 GMT.
Iraq is forming a new government of national unity to combat a mostly Sunni Arab insurgency. Sectarian tensions are running high after the bombing of a Shi'ite shrine in Samarra in February, which unleashed a wave of reprisal attacks.

ISKANDARIYA - A suicide car bomber killed one civilian and wounded two when he blew up his vehicle in the town of Iskandariya, police said. It was not immediately clear what the bomber was targeting or whether his bomb exploded prematurely.
*SAMARRA - Eight members of the Interior Ministry commandos were injured when a roadside bomb exploded next to their patrol in the city of Samarra, north of Baghdad, an Iraqi and U.S. co-ordination centre said.
HAWIJA - A roadside bomb wounded four civilians, two of them seriously, near an art college in the town of Hawija, 60 km (40 miles) southwest of the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, police said.
