Kyrgyz customs officer killed as a result of clashes in Batken oblast

BISHKEK, OSH, BATKEN (AKIpress) – Some details of the incident occurred in Batken oblast on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border are clarified.

The sources in the law enforcement structures told the NA AKIpress that this early morning about 9 militants drove up to the border outpost in Ak-Turpak area by the Mercedez-Benz minibus and opened the fire having taken the customs officer unawares. A man dressed in civilian clothing that stood next to the customs officer died too.

The source in the law enforcement bodies of Osh told the AKIpress-Ferghana that the Tajik border outpost was attacked this early morning not far from the Kyrgyz village Karabak in Batken rayon.

The attackers seized the weapon and penetrated into the territory of Kyrgyzstan. However, a group of several militants encountered Kyrgyz border and customs officers in Ak-Turpak area.

Ak-Turpak is situated on the border of three states – Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
