U.S-led forces strike Taliban, up to 50 dead
KABUL, May 22 (Reuters) - Aircraft from a U.S.-led force in Afghanistan attacked Taliban strongholds on Monday and may have killed up to 50 of the insurgents, a spokesman for the force said.
The attack was launched in the Panjwai district of Kandahar province where last week heavy fighting erupted between Taliban and Afghan and foreign troops.
"We believe up to 50 Taliban may have been killed," said the spokesman, Major Scott Lundy.
