Latest developments in the Middle East

July 17 (Reuters) - Following are developments in the Middle East.

* Israeli plans to pursue its offensive against Hizbollah until two captured soldiers are returned and Lebanese army troops controlled all of southern Lebanon

* Lebanese prime minister says Israel's attacks have inflicted billions of dollars of damage on Lebanon's infrastructure

* Hizbollah fires 20 rockets at Israel overnight -- more than 100 rockets in 24 hours. Twenty-four Israelis killed in the fighting so far, including 12 civilians hit by rockets

* Britain, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan call on the U.N. Security Council to deploy a multilateral security force in Lebanon; U.S., Israel frown on the idea.

* Israeli security sources say Israel has about a week to hit Hizbollah before international pressure forces it to curb its offensive

* Rocket fired from Lebanon destroys building in Israeli city of Haifa

* Israel closes its port in Haifa after rocket attacks

* Palestinian gunmen ambush Israeli troops in occupied West Bank, kill one and wound at least two
