Renegade tribal head killed in Pakistan
QUETTA, Pakistan (AP)-- Security forces killed a prominent anti-government Baluch tribal leader and 24 suspected rebel supporters on Saturday, officials said.
Information Minister Mohammed Ali Durrani confirmed the death of Nawab Akbar Bugti - the most prominent leader in a long-running rebellion by Baluch tribesmen - in the operation in the area of Kohlu in Baluchistan province.
He refused to give any further details.
A top security official, who declined to be named because of the sensitive nature of the topic, said at least 24 militants were killed along with an unspecified number of Pakistani security forces.
