MOROCCO: CASABLANCA JIHADIST CELL IS BUSTED
Rabat, 16 Nov. (AKI) - Authorities in Morocco say they have destroyed a Jiihadist cell consisting of 13 militants based in the city of Casablanca. In a raid on the safehouse used by the militatns who called themselves "Group for Monotheism and Jihad", security forces found a"hit list" with the names of people the cell was allegedly plotting to kill as well as a haul of threatening letters addressed to prominent civil society figures.
The operation is the thirs in recent weeks against alleged Jihadist cells operating in the North African country.
Last month members of a group called 'Ansar al-Mahdi' were identified an arrested. Several of those picked up included musicians in the Moproccan army's brass band.
Earlier in October authorities announced the arrest of several alleged militants of a group called "Saher and Sahara'' allegedly involved in the creation of terrorist training camps in the Moroccan desert together with the Algerian based Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat, which has been linked to the al-Qaeda network.
