Russia offers Iran new tech to improve oil ROR
TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (MNA) — A Russian company has offered Iran its new technology on increasing the rate of recovery (ROR) at oil reserves, an informed source with the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) said here on Monday.
Mashna Uqua Company has offered National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) to apply the new technology to improve ROR at one of Iranian oil reserves, the source who wanted not to be identified told the Mehr News Agency.
The technology includes the injection of a gel into oil reserve, which prevents rush of water into the reserve and thereby improving the ROR, the source elaborated.
NISOC has agreed with the Russian company to implement tests on three oil wells at Ahvaz Oilfield, southwestern Iran, he added.
Iran has assessed that the tests will not impose any harm on reserves, the source noted.
Water rush into oil wells is the most important reason behind the decline of ROR at a reserve. Therefore, the technology could be regarded appropriate when positive results are gained.
