Morocco arrests 17 alleged terror suspects
ISN SECURITY WATCH (Monday, 21 November: 14.50 CET) – Police in Morocco say they have broken up a “terror network” and arrested all 17 of the group’s alleged members, according to the country’s official MAP news agency.
The network is believed to have been connected with extremist forces in Iraq and with al-Qaida, the reported said.
The arrests were reportedly made on Sunday and mainly in the capital city of Rabat and in Casablanca.
Brahim Benchekroun and Mohammed Mazouz, who were among five Moroccans freed from the US military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in August 2004, were among those arrested.
