Explosion hits bus in Kosovo
ISN SECURITY WATCH (Friday, 6 January: 11.10 CET) – A bomb exploded on a bus traveling from the UN-administered Serbian province of Kosovo to the Serbian capital, Belgrade, damaging the vehicle, but causing no injuries.
The bus was carrying 57 people, most of them ethnic Albanians, when hit by the explosion on Thursday.
Police were investigating the motive of the attack and the type of explosive device used.
The incident comes as the UN prepares for crucial talks on the future status of the Kosovo either as a Serbian province with wide autonomy or as an independent nation.
On 3 January, unknown assailants threw an explosive device at the Albanian embassy in Belgrade.
