Pro-Syrian militants shoot two Lebanese policemen
Gulf News: Two Lebanese policemen were shot and wounded by pro-Syrian Palestinian gunmen whilst on patrol on the outskirts of Beirut.
The policemen, one of whom was seriously wounded, were patrolling outside the base of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) in Naameh, 20km south of the captial city.
Lebanese troops have been sent to Naameh to calm people who took to the streets to protest the shootings, burning car tires and pouring truck loads of sand onto the highway preventing traffic from travelling to Beirut.
It is not yet clear what sparked the shootings.
