2 rockets fired on Pakistan security forces headquarters
ISLAMABAD, April 19 (Xinhua) -- Two rockets were fired in an overnight attack on the headquarters of security forces in Pakistan's tribal region, but no one was hurt, an eyewitness said on Wednesday.
The attack occurred in Miranshah, the headquarters of the NorthWaziristan tribal agency, he said.
He added that the security forces shelled the area, from where the rockets were fired.
"The security forces continued firing for an hour," he said.
There was no report of casualties on the part of the attackers.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack but the government blamed pro-Taliban militants for such attacks.
Meanwhile, spokesman for the militants in North Waziristan Tariq Jameel has claimed for the first time that they had held hostage five members of the paramilitary militia, who were kidnapped last week while on routine patrolling in Razmak, a town in North Waziristan.
But the government has not confirmed the claim.
Jameel said that the soldiers were alive and their fate would be decided under Islamic laws. He did not present any condition for their release.
The militants have several times in the past kidnapped and killed soldiers. Despite security measures, paramilitary soldiers were kidnapped from time to time. Enditem
