Chinese newspapers Headlines

BEIJING, May 8 (Reuters) - Chinese newspapers available in Beijing carried the following stories on Monday. Reuters has not checked the stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.

PEOPLE'S DAILY

-- A big fire that raged for two days in an area of forest in north China's Inner Mongolia region was extinguished on Sunday.

-- Retail sales in the week-long May Day holiday reached 278 billion yuan ($34.70 billion), up 16 percent from the same time last year.

-- China and Japan held their fifth round of strategic dialogue in Beijing on Sunday. The two sides conferred on current Sino-Japan relations and other issues of common concern.

-- China's stock regulator issued regulations allowing firms to resume capital raising on domestic stock exchanges from Monday.

-- Domestic tourism during holidays has become an important way of life for Chinese. Revenues of inland tourism will reach 850 billion yuan ($106.1 billion) in 2010, according to officials in the National Tourism Administration.
