TEHRAN, Iran -- An explosion injured several people Monday in the governor's office in Kermanshah, a city with a large Kurdish population in southwestern Iran, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

The cause of the 2 p.m. blast was under investigation, the news agency quoted Ali Ta'ala, the deputy general governor of Kermanshah, as saying.

Several injured people were taken out of the governor's office, IRNA reported.

Kermanshah is about 280 miles southwest of Tehran and 90 miles east of the Iraqi border.
