Militants blow up two gas pipelines in Pakistan
Quetta, June 28 (AP): Militants blew up two State-owned gas pipelines in southwestern Pakistan on Wednesday, leaving thousands of domestic consumers without natural gas. A nearby land mine blast killed one soldier.
The pipeline attacks happened near Sui, a town about 350 kilometers east of Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan where Pakistan's main gas fields are located, said gas company spokesman Inayat Ullah.
Engineers had gone to the area to repair the lines, Ullah said.
In a nearby village, a Pakistani soldier on a routine patrol died after stepping on a land mine, said Abdul Samad Lasi, a senior Government official in the region.
