Azeribaijan raises military pay

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree doubling the salaries of Interior Forces military and civil employees.

The 100 percent pay raises have been backdated to July 1. Aliyev implemented the decree "to improve social terms of employees of Interior Forces of the Interior Forces of Azerbaijan."

Baku Today reported on July 12 that the additional funding for the raises will come from the 2006 Interior Ministry's public budget. On June 30 Aliyev also doubled the pay for military men and civil workers in the Defense Ministry.
