*BAGHDAD - Six people were killed and four wounded by a bomb in a restaurant at a busy traffic intersection called Darweesh, near the Doura district of southern Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source said.
*BAGHDAD - Three police commandos were killed, including a brigade captain, and three wounded in clashes with gunmen in the Um al-Maalif district of southern Baghdad, a police source said. Al-Maalif is near Darweesh intersection.
*BAGHDAD - Two civilians were killed and two wounded in fighting between police and gunmen in the western Baghdad area of Tobchi, police said.
BAGHDAD - U.S. military said it detained two suspected senior members of al-Qaeda in Iraq and five associates on Wednesday during raids in Baghdad and Mosul.
NEAR BAIJI - A U.S. soldier was wounded when his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb near Baiji, 180 km (112 miles) north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement.
NAJAF - Thirty-five people were killed and more than 90 injured by bomb blasts in a market near the Imam Ali shrine in southern city of Najaf, 160 km (100 miles) from Baghdad, said Dr. Riyadh al-Shibli at the city's Al-Hakim Hospital.
FALLUJA - A policeman was shot dead in Falluja, 50 km (32 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.
MOSUL - Gunmen killed one civilian in the city of Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, a source at the morgue said.
HAWIJA - A roadside bomb aimed at a police patrol exploded in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk, killing two policemen and critically wounding two others, police said.
MUQDADIYA - Maad al-Saadoun, a brother of Sunni legislator Mudhhir al-Saadoun, was shot dead by gunmen in his car in Muqdadiya, 90 km (50 miles) northeast of Baghdad, police said.
