Egypt: Sinai a center for arms dealing
CAIRO, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Egypt is reportedly cracking down on arms dealers in the Sinai who smuggle weapons to Palestinians in Gaza.
Middle East News Line reports that the latest arrest on Oct. 5 involved a man who had 64 anti-tank mines in his garden in El Arish. Mohammed Salem allegedly had a variety of buyers for the mines.
Other arrests have taken place in Rafah.
Egyptian investigators say that El Arish has become a center for insurgents in the Sinai. Bombs used in terror attacks on the seaside resorts of Dahab, Taba and Sharm el-Sheik were allegedly assembled there.
