Four soldiers, one militant killed in J&K
JAMMU: Four people, including three security personnel, were killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Surankote area Tuesday morning when troops raided a militant hideout.
Officials said a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the army, two soldiers and a militant were killed in the fierce gun battle in the hilly Matan Dhara area, 240 km north of Jammu.
The army had raided a suspected hideout of militants at Matan Dhara when they met with a barrage of gunfire. The JCO and two soldiers died immediately. One militant has been killed so far in the gunfight that continues, an official said.
It appears that a large number of militants are still hiding inside, he added.
