Al-Qaeda Turkey chief caught
Cihan News Agency: One more al-Qaeda operative suspected of being the terrorist network’s Turkey head was taken into custody in the central Anatolian town of Konya, as part of the nationwide raids launched by the Konya Police Department.
During an operation called “Şifre” [Cipher] organized by the Konya police, one more person was taken into custody suspected of being a high-ranking member of the internationally acknowledged al-Qaeda terrorist network, in addition to 48 suspects who had been taken into custody during an earlier operation simultaneously launched in seven cities. Identified by the police as A.B., 34, was caught in Istanbul, brought to Konya on Saturday and was interrogated in anti-terror branch office. Undergoing a routine health check in Konya Numune Hospital, the man was transferred to the court afterwards. Thirty-Eight of 48 previously caught suspects were arrested while charges against 10 were dismissed.
