Bombs discovered on northern border
IDF engineering corps soldiers discovered four large explosive devices Monday afternoon and destroyed them in contained explosions along the Lebanese border south of the Israeli community of Avivim.
IDF forces were continuing to search the area for additional bombs, as were UNIFIL forces on the Lebanese side of the border.
The IDF estimates that the bombs were planted by Hizbullah recently. If the bombs were indeed planted after last summer's war in Lebanon, it will be the first such incident since the UN-brokered cease-fire was declared in August 2006.
IDF soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev were kidnapped on July 12, 2006 after a bomb exploded and severely damaged their vehicle.
