Maoist rebels kill six in India's Bihar state

More than 150 Maoist fighters ambushed cars carrying Ashok Singh, a candidate in forthcoming village elections, late on Monday and opened fire, Inspector-General of Police Anil Sinha told Reuters.
"Singh and five of his supporters died on the spot," Sinha said of the attack which took place in Aurangabad district, about 200 km (125 miles) southwest of the state capital, Patna.
The Maoists, who say they are fighting for the rights of poor peasants and landless labourers, have called for a boycott of the polls.
