Israel has samples of Russian arms used in the conflict by Hizbollah fighters, Israel’s Vice Prime Minister Shimon Perez told the Moscow Echo radio Sept. 6.
”There were such weapons, and as far as we know, Russians asked Syria to explain how they made it to Hizbollah. We do not know everything, but we have these weapons. We have seen it. It has markings on it,” Perez said.
Moscow earlier voiced “bewilderment” at the claims that Hizbollah were using Russian arms, saying there was no proof.
”We must provide proof? Look, I tell you that there is no 100-percent certainty and agreement in this case,” Perez said.
”Russia knows better than anyone what mad terrorists are like,” he added.
Russia was criticized over its arms sales to countries associated with the Lebanon-based Hizbollah Shiite militia during its war with Israel.
There have, however, been no official accusations from Israel or other countries that Russia is supplying Hezbollah with arms.
