Car With Explosives Seized Outside Russian Airport
A Toyota Camry with a large amount of explosives in its trunk has been seized by police near an international airport in Yekaterinburg, regional center in the Russian Urals.
An airport dispatcher received an anonymous alert on Monday about a car with explosives heading for the airport. The unidentified person reported on the make of car, color and number and then hung up.
An hour after the call police located the car outside the airport. Two men were inside the vehicle at the time. One of them, the car owner, was drunk. He was described as a local trading house manager. A director of a local construction company was at the wheel. He had an airplane ticket, Interfax news agency quoted the local police press center as saying.
Initial inspection suggested the device consisted of one kilogram of plastic explosives. A detonator was also found. A third person, who was waiting for the car, was also detained.
